AFFORDABLE HOUSING

ARUNDEL HABITAT FOR HUMANITY works to build simple, decent, affordable homes for families in need in our county. Volunteer opportunities include participation in oversight and planning committees, clerical work and, of course, hands on construction. Group work dates for Woods are scheduled throughout the year. Watch Woods Chips for dates. Arundel Habitat also has a retail store Renovation Station, offering new and good condition home and building material products at reasonable prices. Contact Arundel Habitat at 410-384-9212 to volunteer directly or visit www.arundelhabitat.org for more information.

BROOKLYN CURTIS BAY COALITION (BCBC) is a community renewal organization which is making a difference in the neighborhood on the south edge of Baltimore city and adjacent to Anne Arundel County.  Properties are being refurbished and sold to low and middle income, qualified individuals.  Community residents are coming together to support neighborhood clean up and community watch programs.  BCBC has acquired the former Polish Home Hall to reestablish a vital community center.  Watch Chips for Saturday group work dates.  Contact:  Bill Habicht.

REBUILDING TOGETHER (Formerly Christmas in April) provides resources and volunteers to repair the homes of elderly, disabled, and low-income families or non-profit facilities in our county. Sign ups for the big blitz day, which is always the last Saturday of April, occur in the Spring. Contact Bill Habicht.
