More than 20 years ago, Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group:
“Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.”
Since that day, more than $98 million has been raised for local charities across the country through Souper Bowl of Caring. On this day when many of us will enjoy food and football, let’s remember those without even a bowl of soup to eat. Next Sunday, February 1, please support the youth of our church in this effort to “love our neighbors” by dropping your dollar(s) in the soup pot and bringing non-perishable food - see list items below needed by FoodLink.
The sixth and seventh grade Sunday school students are learning about the needs of their mission partner and their surrounding neighbors. The students are studying about poverty and hungry in our local community.
They have partnered with FoodLink, an Annapolis-based grassroots, non-profit organization that works as a safety net for the working poor. (www.foodlinkmaryland.org). Please give generously on Souper Bowl Sunday.
FoodLink’s most needed items:
- Chunky Soups
