Presbyterian Women of Woods (PWOW)

pw_logo1As a female member of Woods Church you are a member of Presbyterian Women of Woods. As a Presbyterian Woman of Woods, you are a part of the Baltimore Presbytery, which has its membership in the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic. Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic support the Presbyterian Women in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.

Presbyterian Women of Woods have been meeting since 1913, for Bible study, prayer, fellowship and support for mission efforts within the church and beyond. Over the decades the organization has expanded, but our goals remain the same. PWOW sponsors several church-wide fellowship events each year. In addition the annual PWOW Holiday Bazaar is a major fund-raising event, with 100% of the proceeds going to support mission efforts from local to global.

As a Presbyterian Woman of Woods, you have an opportunity to participate in one of the three PWOW Circles. These Circles meet once a month from September through May for Bible study, prayer, mission support and fellowship. All Circles welcome newcomers at any time. Meetings generally are held at the church, and child care is provided if requested in advance. Participants may choose to volunteer to provide opening devotions, to lead the Bible study lesson or to provide refreshments. Although all Circles are intergenerational, some tend to draw a particular community of women (e.g., younger women including mothers with small children, career women including those who work during the day, older women including retirees and those with adult children and grandchildren, etc.).

First Thursday of the month, 9:30 – 11:00 AM in Room 401, contact Jean Parker or Joan Hillier. This circle is mostly made up of older women, including retirees and those with adult children and grandchildren.

Second Tuesday of the month, 9:45 – 11:30 AM in the Founders Room, contact Judy Lupfer . This circle has a focus on Mission projects include gifting a SPAN family with Christmas gifts). Intergenerational with strong emphasis on Bible study.

Second Tuesday of the month, 9:30 - 11:00 AM and the contact is Tiffany Dean . Many participants are younger women, and some are mothers of pre-school and school age children.

Please call a leader, she will be happy to meet you before the Circle Meeting so that you feel comfortable.
